Waste Land

Waste Land- filmed for over three years, follows the journey of the Brooklyn based Brazilian artist Vik Muniz as  he explores the world's largest garbage dump, Jardim Gramacho which is located near Rio de Janeiro. He photographs "catadores"- group of self designated pickers of recyclable materials. The photographic images out of garbage tells the story about these characters, as they begin to re-imagine their lives.
